Cash Gifts can also be made by mailing us a check. Just remember to designate your gift to the Division of Student Life. You will receive a tax deduction based on the value of your contributions. Pledge of Support
Pledge of Support is an easy way to make larger contributions. The promise to give can be made with a term of one to five years at the donor’s discretion and can be designated for a specific purpose or fund.
A great option for maximizing the power of your personal gift. Check with your company’s Human Resources Office to find out how to utilize this giving option. Keep in mind that a company match is not a tax deduction for the employee.
Securities and Mutual Funds
Securities and Mutual Funds which have appreciated in value are an ideal giving option for many donors. Please contact us for specific instructions. It is important that you do not cash your stocks! By transferring the stocks to the WVU Foundation, Inc. you will avoid capital gains. Charitable deductions are based on market value if the stock has been owed for more than one year or on a cost basis if owned less than one year.
